LUVOIR is a 15m space telescope project developed by NASA for the 2020 decadal. LUVOIR works from ultra-violet (UV) to infra-red (IR) and has 4 instruments including Pollux. Pollux, developed by Europe and led by France, is a high-resolution UV spectropolarimeter working from 90 to 400nm. To optimize its design, the range has been divided in three channels: far UV from 90 mn to 124.5 nm, mid UV from 118.5 mn to 200 nm and near UV from 200 nm to 400 nm. Each channel has its own polarimeter with its own design. This talk will briefly introduce LUVOIR and Pollux and then focus on the polarimeters principles.
The seminar will be given by Maëlle Le Gal, Paris Observatory, in Torres Quevedo, C/ Serrano 144 (Madrid, Spain) at 12:00 a.m..
